About the FSPCA
Saving Furry Friends since 1989
Our mission is to reduce the suffering of unowned cats and dogs in Fluvanna County by promoting adoption and responsible pet ownership. We strive to provide a safe, nurturing environment for the animals in our care until they find permanent, loving homes.
About us
We are a small, rural shelter that has been caring for dogs and cats in Fluvanna County since 1989.
Although we may share similar goals with the larger national organizations such as the ASPCA, Humane World for Animals, and BFAS, we are not directly affiliated with them and do not receive any financial support from these organizations apart from possible grants.

We receive our funding from:
-
donations
-
grants
-
fundraising events
-
Fluvanna County (for providing the county’s public animal shelter services)
Philanthropic support plays an essential role in ensuring that our shelter animals receive the care that they need. We are always striving to improve our operations and expand our services to the community. Our voluntary Board of Directors, committee members, volunteers, and staff are responsible for all FSPCA activities.
